I often see owners with new puppies who utilize potty training pads as an initial solution to housebreaking and hope that they will also learn to ask to go outside.
Crate training offers the best long term solution for outdoors. There are many good reasons for indoor training, such as living in a high-rise building or health issues. If you choose to use pads and patches remember that you are training your puppy that it is appropriate to relieve itself inside and he/she will be confused if expected to understand both methods.
Here’s a great article from The Housebreaking Bible that talks about indoor and outside training pratices.

This lovely Tiffany kitty is called “Miss Kitty”. Kitties love their routines and Miss Kitty is no exception. Our ritual includes sunning and grooming, playtime with her favorite toy, and then of course, TREATS!
“Miss Kitty” is a rare feline breed called a Tiffany or Chantilly cat. She has so much personality!
From Wikipedia ~
“The Chantilly-Tiffany or Chantilly/Tiffany, also known as simply the Chantilly or the Foreign Longhair, is a breed of cat derived mainly from cross-breeding long-haired Asians and Burmese. The breed originated in North America. As the name suggests, it is closely related to, and in some registries considered distinct from, the Tiffany (or Tiffanie, a.k.a. Asian Semi-longhair) breed, the British variant.
It is a cat with a semi-foreign body style and a full semi-long coat. The coat is silky, soft and smooth; the lack of undercoat usually makes grooming simpler than that of cats with an undercoat. Somewhat a late bloomer, the Chantilly-Tiffany is slow to mature and usually does not come into its full stature until about two years old. The eye color of the feline intensifies with age. The head should be a broad, modified wedge with gentle curves. It should have a medium length nose and a strong, broad, short and softly squared muzzle, and defined but not obvious whisker pads.”

There’s no stoppin’ me now!

I was recently at a local dog park and was amazed to see this Labrador Retriever running around the park. He had weak back legs but with the aid of a wheelchair designed to support his lower body he was able to run around without any restrictions. Consider this if your dog has physical limitations. They are still able to get the exercise they need!
Check out DogKarts.com or HandicappedPets.com for Walkin’ Wheels Dog Wheelchair!
“A dog wheelchair can enable your dog to run and play again, get the exercise he (or she) needs, and live a happy, healthy life. Designed to help animals with hip and leg problems including degenerative myelopathy (DM), hip dysplasia, arthritis, paralysis, slipped disc, soreness, spinal and neurological problems, surgical recovery, and more.”

Protect Your Pooch!
This photo was taken at Tecolote Canyon Golf Resort in San Diego last week. An English Sheepdog had been left in the car while its owner played golf. We are thankful that the convertible top was down. This was during our heat wave here in San Diego where temperatures were well over 90 degrees.
Thank you to the team of golf professionals at Tecolote Canyon Golf Resort. They took it upon themselves to prop large golf umbrellas up and shield the windows so the dog could stay cooler. Luckily there was plenty of water for the pooch.
About.com has a great article about heat stroke in dogs. Here in San Diego we face hot weather in the Fall and it is our fire season. Please protect your dog from heat stroke and heat stress! http://dogs.about.com/od/dogandpuppyhealth/qt/heatstroke.htm
